Carlisle Pendant
Carlisle Pendant
A glass locket for your special stored memories. The locket is adorably round with a curly ornated top. Currently houses dried flower petals, unknown if it is original to the piece. The top twists off, so that you can switch out a special relic in between the two glass panels. The gold surround is delicate and lightweight, please be gentle if you are switching out the dried flowers.
Dating this locket was tough. With the help of Jessie Carberry Shop she was able to recognize the correct maker's mark for W H Collins & Co, a jewelry company that was known in creating lockets. The 375 and the letter 9 - to indicate 9k gold content. The rest of the marks are presumably the Glasgow assay that was worn and cut off. Thanks to C over at CollectingSparklyThings on Instagram of identifying the R. A cursive "R" for the date 1914.
Specification:
9k gold with hallmarks. The Glasgow assay office closed in 1964, a super rare item to have! We will no longer see any of these hallmarks in modern items today.
Edwardian, dating to 1914
1.2" in width

Care:
Basic - just be mindful of the delicate gold surrounding the glass
Clean:
Basic – I recommend removing the glass and the gold pieces to clean them separately
Condition:
Small chips around the glass, see photos for a close up. Slight wobble with the glass, is secure but I do not recommend wearing during strenuous physical activity.
